A Colourful Storm 014 - 91 Fellows

Vanese Smith, of Pursuit Grooves fame, has unveiled a new alias through which she has been able to delve into the realm of cinematic dub; 91 Fellows. Her contribution consists of a 30 minute original composition titled 'Terrapin SkyDome', and forms the soundtrack to a fictitious short film of the same name. The piece invokes imagery of the dark, steam-filled streets of her home city of New York, before traversing far beyond through the interplanetary field. A Colourful Storm

Damon Bell - Kush Musik Wax [Deepblack]

A1 - Ezuku

A2 - Idiya

B1 - Kymestry

B2 - Ezuku(Aybee Gorilla dub)

Oakland based Damon Bell curates his first vinyl release with >Kush Musik Wax<. Damons productions are always rich with mood, swing, and depth. This release plays on Damons archival tendencies as a DJ leaning heavily on his influences of Dub, Jazz, and all things Deep. The release starts off with Damons much heralded >Ezuku< which found its way onto the playlists of Rick Wilhite amongst others. >Idiya< displays Damons flair for arrangement as he twists the vibe midway thru landing you in a completely different space than the opening. >Kymestry< is an uplifting Deep House trip that brought a smile to the face of Ron Trent while at the Deepblak studios. Closing things out is label head AYBEE with a Deep mid-tempo Dub of >Ezuku<.

Aybee/Miles Sagnia - Eternal Radiance [Atmospheric Existence]

A1 - Aybee - A Glance

A2 - Aybee - Isis

B1 - Miles Sagnia - Journey 2 Forever

B2 - Miles Sagnia - Journey 2 Forever" (Visual Foci reprise)

There are few artists who manage to successfully develop a signature style that not separates them from the rest. Aybee is one of those rare few that has managed to conquer a range of styles within his work from soul, techno, house and hip-hop under his many monikers. This time we see the US artist team up with Miles Sagnia for two cuts each on the Eternal Radiance EP on Sagnia's Atmospheric Existence imprint. Taking over the A-Side, Aybee serves up "A Glance" which oozes with classic US house charm. Acoustic piano chords and are layered on top of a chugging bassline and electronic melody, tightly produced and melting in its warmth. "Isis" gets heavier with a more underground vibe of crashing echoes and tinny drum arrangements. On the flip, Sagnia's "Journey 2 Forever" fuses multi-tracked choral chants, the impeccable sound of the Hammond and a rapid techy groove. His Visual Foci Reprise of "Journey 2 Forever" ditches the chants, instead opting for a sensual male vocal.
