The track hints towards ‘club use’ while luring ears into the avant garde through seductive tweaks of the EMS Synth,. Freak Inspector, from Madteo's infamous Memoria album, gets a total re-mash by Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being- left to brew for a few years in the Morphine curing closet and now at optimum maturity for it’s release. Two masters of their respective games meeting over the sides of this 12” with more in common than we’d previously imagined…

In the list of ways to impress with your debut release, Sequencias score highly with this triple drop of typically forward thinking house manoeuvres from Mathematics boss Jamal Moss, Aroy Dee from the M>O>S stable and your man Specter. Jamal Moss heads the queue with the disjointed, primal thump of “Night Thoughts (2am Mix)” under his Hieroglyphic Being guise, presenting the sort of almost scary house deviation that somehow crams several disparate elements together under one unifying, if off kilter rhythmic thrust. Those who were taken by the alien sounds of “Pipe Bomb” Specter’s release on Sound Signature earlier this year will no doubt be interested by “Padded Cell” which delights via the growing acid oscillations and the percussive sensations that positively bounce off the elastic bassline. Aroy Bee closes proceedings in fine style via “Shuffle” which is dipped in that all too elusive vintage techno flex, sounding very much like the product of 1980s Detroit as opposed to modern day Amsterdam.

Anyone who checked Ital's recent release for Not Not Fun offshoot 100% Silk will need no extra incentive to indulge in this release for Lovers Rock. The deviations from the house music template shown there are further explored on Culture Clubs, not least on the elegantly dizzying shifts in rhythmic direction that permeate through the opening title track. A schizoid approach to pitch shifting the gloopy sounds creates a mystical effect which is replicated on the B Side opener "Eternally Yours". Based around a rawer sound, with tinny stunted rhythms at the fore, Ital employs similar shifting techniques on a track that gains increasingly abstract intentions as it progresses. Given the esoteric sounds that permeate through every Mathematics release, label boss Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being seems a perfect fit to invite on board for remix duties and the resultant remix of "Culture Clubs" is typically unique! We're not entirely sure what studio techniques Moss employed to get the viscous stretched out qualities that pervade throughout but it's crazy good, especially the midpoint grind to a halt.
