"I wanted to write tracks with multiple phasing phrases, and to improvise. I started to accumulate some machines that I've always wanted;a TR-909, a TB-303, and an SH-101 that I picked up during a tour in Tokyo. I assembled my studio in an apartment that I shared with D'marc Cantu in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Since I wanted to convey a live, improvised feel, I wasn't programming pattern sequences or writing songs with distinct parts. I achieved this goal because D'marc was kind enough to lend me a hand when I needed it on the machines.When, eventually, we collaborated in that studio, we became 2AM/FM. We wrote the EPs; "Pt. 1","Pt.2", and the tracks; "Don't Front!!!", and "Electronic Justice" there. For years I shared my living space with fellow young people. Though I didn't go to college, I did my fair share of partying and consider those my "college days." This was my environment at the time that I recorded Creep Acid. I was making music in a haze of smoke. I was indulgent and pleased. Acid house is what drove me to these machines, but once I got there I was only thinking about enjoying the fruits of improvisation and crude techniques." James T Cotton

"2562 aka Dave Huismans – from The Hague/Holland, in Berlin/Germany – has previously released music on Tectonic Recordings as well as 3024 and usually gets classified somewhere in the wasteland between cutting-edge bass music, techno and house. His first two longplayers “Aerial” and “Unbalance” found fans across many different scenes, the latter landing in a.o. RA’s 2009 album top ten. When In Doubt is his new imprint, aiming to release heartfelt music that doesn’t fit in the existing categories. Dave also makes freestyle techno as A Made Up Sound, known for releases on Clone, Delsin, Subsolo, Philpot and its own eponymous label. But that’s another story.What’s the point of a concept album when no one hears the concept in it? Maybe that it sets a boundary, forcing mr artist to go even deeper into the fewer possibilities left. Creativity by limitation and all that… we’ll spare you further theorizing. ‘Fever’, the third longplayer by dutch low end scientist 2562, then, is his disco album: a thorough reinterpretation of underground disco music from the mid seventies to the early eighties, with his own birthyear 1979 as the gravitational point. All based on one simple rule: every single sound, from the smallest background shiver to the most obese sub bass, originates from a disco record – no additional synthesizers, drumcomputers or other samplesources involved.Disco-edits, italo homages or filtered loops then? Hardly. This is genuinely new and retro-free music that respectfully flips its sources so hard even the biggest Paradise Garage connaisseurs won’t recognize what just hit them. Or in the words of musical allies Martyn and Pinch, who independently drew the same conclusion: “Sorry, but I don’t hear that whole disco story in there. This simply sounds like you.” STHoldings

"Following the almost unanimous praise for their previous studio masterpiece, Moritz Von Oswald (Maurizio/Rhythm & Sound), Max Loderbauer (Nsi./Sun Electric) and Sasu Ripatti (Vladislav Delay) present 'Horizontal Structures', the jazz-suave and rolling x-axis to the kosmische y of 'Vertical Ascent'. The curve of their projections becomes more complex with the addition of Paul St. Hilaire (aka Tikiman) on guitar and ECM artist, Marc Muellbauer's double bass infusing deeply instinctive jazz moves into the cats-cradle of organ, percussion and electronics. There's a more leveled spirit and cruising groove to this album, their deft interactions creating a deeply engrained blue moodiness and playful efficacy whose potential is beautifully rendered in Moritz's mixing desk. As the elements begin to fuse like condensed gas particles in the bell jar sphere of 'Structure One' its clear to hear the group's evolution as the groove subliminally coalesces with a looseness that wasn't there before, Tiki's Afro-lilting guitar swirling about like fragrant hashish smoke and Muellbauer's eyes-shut bass adding daubs of melodic colouration. 'Structure 2' is more urgent and soundtrack-y, melody stripped back while the rhythm section ripples away with infinite Krautrock essence, before 'Structure 3' reintroduces the dub with moonboot skank rhythm hinging on crisp snare punctuations and offset chords in the dreamiest headspace. The 20 minute 'Structure 4' is perhaps the craftiest, Moritz the mixing board illusionist deftly weaving the acoustic and electronic, the synthetic and the real with a sleight of hand that makes this music at once electro-acoustic jazz and dub concrète, yet with the fundamental grace and glide of deep techno."
